Let’s talk about something that might surprise you (but honestly, if you’ve dated men, it might not):
Men fall in love faster than women.
According to a new study from the Australian National University, men, on average, fall in love a full month earlier than women. Which is wild considering how often we’ve been told women are the emotionally needy ones, right?
But here’s the twist:
This isn’t necessarily about men being more emotionally tuned in.
It might be strategy.
As the lead researcher Adam Bode put it:
“Men are more commonly required to show their commitment to win over a partner.”
In other words, men fall fast… maybe because they think they have to.

But Let’s Break That Down, Shall We?
Falling fast isn’t the same as falling deep.
Just because someone says “I love you” quickly doesn’t mean they’re emotionally available.
Sometimes, fast love is performance. Sometimes it’s projection.
And sometimes it’s just a good ol’ fashioned attachment wound masquerading as fireworks.
⸻
Here’s what I’ve seen in over 15 years of matchmaking:
• Men often do fall hard and fast. Especially after a few good dates, a little affection, and the idea of connection that feels safe.
• But women are more likely to pause and ask, “Is this actually good for me?”
• Women take longer because they’re assessing. Protecting. Remembering what happened the last time they trusted too soon.
And that’s not emotional unavailability—that’s wisdom.
⸻
So what’s the takeaway?
If a man falls for you quickly, pay attention.
But don’t confuse a fast fall with a solid foundation.
Ask yourself:
• Does his energy stay consistent after the honeymoon hormones fade?
• Is he emotionally responsive, not just romantic?
• Is he loving you—or the idea of love?
Because here’s the truth:
Real love takes time.
It’s not how fast they fall—it’s how well they show up after the landing.
